1. Connect Files to Object Storage
CAEVES bridges traditional file access and modern object storage, preserving SMB behavior, file structure, and security semantics while preparing data for search and AI readiness.
2. Deploy a CAEVES Instance in Your Azure Tenant
A CAEVES instance presents virtual SMB shares that can be used for:
- Data ingest
- Read-only archive access
- Read/write NAS-style access (where required)

Users and applications interact with CAEVES using standard SMB access, with no change to workflows during migration or ongoing use.
4. Automatically Tier Data to Azure Object Storage
CAEVES transparently caches and tiers file data into a dedicated Azure Object Storage account, while maintaining a full metadata index for search, reporting, and governance.
5. Apply Native Azure Data Lifecycle Management (DLM)
The CAEVES-managed storage account is automatically provisioned with lifecycle policies that move data across hot, cool, cold, and archive tiers based on aging rules.
6. Object Storage Becomes the Authoritative Data Source
Azure Object Storage acts as the system of record for all data, while CAEVES provides controlled SMB access when file-level interaction is required.
7. Optional Compute Shutdown for Maximum Cost Efficiency

Once data resides in CAEVES-managed Azure Object Storage, integration is enabled by deploying the CAEVES Copilot Connector from the Microsoft Marketplace.
